I wouldn't get all that discouraged. I think your latest event was a casualty of the growth of anti-GW sentiments recently. Oddly, it seemed to have only been aimed at 40k, because the Fantasy guys seem to have stuck by their game. Also there is the fact Shogun Showdown was within a month and a half of Nagoyahammer, and I got the word from some people they've been 40ked out for awhile.I say go for it again when the 40k buzz is back.
In the meantime, the fantasy guys would love to have an event at your place, I'm fairly sure. Would you consider changing one of the events to a campaign tournament?
Couldn't agree less. I am very anti GW but it has had zero effect on the amount of 40K I play. In fact, I don't think it has had any effect on anybody's amount of 40K gaming.
Hating GW doesn't change the fact that people own 10s of thousand's of yen worth of 40K stuff. Not playing with it would be cutting your nose off to spite your face.
And last time I checked, Fantasy Battle was made by GW too. Why would anti GW sentiment just extend to 40K and not WHFB? Makes no sense what so ever and, as you yourself pointed out, is odd.
I think it is more a fact of new WHFB stuff coming out recently, and the increase of coverage in magazine and on the web.
Games are like the tide, they have ebbs and flows. For a while about 5 years ago we were all well into BloodBowl and DungeonBowl. We were playing it every month, we organised a tourney that had about 12 people playing on three different dungeons. Was wicked fun and went down really well. Fast forward to the present and hardly anyone is playing it. Ebbs and flows my friend, ebbs and flows.
When the 6th edition of 40K come out, people will be playing it again and WHFB will be put on the back burner in it's place.
And as for the Admirals events, of course I can only speak for myself, they were on a Saturday, Monday, and Monday. All of those are days I work.
DOWN WITH GW!!!!!!!!!!!! VIVA LA 40K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
