Last time was against Prim and the time before that was against MiJ I believe. I also lost games to each of them on the same day I believe.
And part of the reason you may not remember is that I believe we have only played 40K against each other the one time, a game you ended up winning. A pretty unenjoyable game as I remember it.
Yep, I don't take my 40K as seriously as you do/did, I just play the armies that I think will be fun or look good on the table. Everyone knows that about me and generally brings lists that will suit that style of play.
The meta game is also s factor. If playing with like minded people, there is no need for the game to turn into an arms race.
Either way, how I play is irrelevant. The point I made still stands. There is no necessity to buy overpriced miniatures. There are other options. They are;
Scratch build.
Proxy.
Buy used.
Convert and kit bash.
Recasters ( not that I am recommending that, just pointing out that to some it is an option).
