ok. here's a hint for the tactically challenged among us:
the reason eldar players dont put harleys in vehicles has nothing to do with them not being fast or open topped.
Any ideas yet?

Because you're worried the transport will get popped. Duh. Oh, and your transports are ridiculously over costed. However, DE transports cheaper, can be given invulnerable saves and are always 6" more away than they appear to be. Plus if your opponent is shooting lots of things at the Harly vehicle, he is NOT shooting at the boats full of wytches coming right at him. Worst comes to worst, transport gets popped, Harlies bail out and go on foot from there. You're trading off 6"+Run for up to 24" and drawing lots of enemy fire.
Harlies can avoid enemy shooting (a bit) with their stealth field thing if they are on foot, but it isnt a guarantee and they're about as tough as wet tissues if the enemy are in range.

I'll concede that eldar transports are ridiculously over costed. However, your other points aint so hot. Rather than go through em in detail (as is my wont) I reckon that this time Ill just wait for you to try it and see what happens.

The Hellions aren't too bad, but I think I'll be using some wych parts to make them look a little better.

Going back to my little "debate" with M_i_J, I put a post on Warseer asking "should I try to put Harlies into a Raider?"
The responses were
Yes : 0
No : 0
Why the fudge would you want to take Harlies : Over 9000!
So there we have it, with or without a transport, Harlies are seen as being a poor choice for the Dark Eldar.

Some of the poses for the Hellions look great. Others not so much. I guess that is the joy of plastic kits, you get to do the posing. And,as Prim mentioned, with all the extra options from the Wych and Warrior boxes you can't help but have cool looking models.

I think one problem will be deciding what not to take (besides Space Clowns ). There seems to be so much cool stuff, both in terms of models and in game effects, players will be spoiled for choice. If you have seen my Dark Elf Army, you will know that I have a thing for scantily clad females with poisoned weapons so I may just have to get a Wych themed army. Then again, an all monster army or a bike and raider spam army might be cool to.Too many choices, not enough money. Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

A Wych themed army is definitely do-able.
I reckon you can get 4 squads of Wyches and 1 squad of Warriors, in sail-boats along with two Ravagers and a special character for around 1500 points. Whilst Lelith is nails in combat, one of the other characters lets you re-roll on the combat drugs table, which gives you better odds of getting the result you want.
You could also go for lots of infantry instead. Blood Brides in elite along with Wyches on foot would give you a fairly fast army (since they all fleet) that could be tough to take out if they roll up the FNP result.

After reading the codex, it is a very interesting list. I'd consider making an army but I've already got enough on my hotplate.

I just succumbed and read the Deldar codex.

I must say, Im disappointed. There are a few nice things in there, but there are also some things which are overpowered to silly levels. Do the HQ units really need WS 7 and 8? For those who havent read the codex, Im talking about the normal HQ units, here, not named characters. It just feels like they were desperately trying to make them killier than anything else theyve ever done. Yes, this fits the fluff of the book, but by that rationale every army is the killiest army in the game, cos thats how the books are written. We're running out of WS, people. It only goes up to 10. That should cover the next 2 codexes, but what happens after that, hmmn?

I'm also somewhat curious as to what they intend to do about the plethora of units for which there is no model available.

e.g.

beastmasters and their various beasts.
Scourges (no longer avaiable from GW online...)
The court of the Archon (these sound v interesting. No models, tho...)
Succubi
Regular Haemunculi and their various beasties (who are not in the codex Ive got, but im missing several pages)
Razorwing Jetfighters (um. This to me sounds a LOT like a flyer. Only this is 40k, not apoc, so the rules have been fudged...)
Voidraven Bomber (ditto)

A whole passel' o special characters, all of whom are a tad on the bee-are-oh-kay-ee-en nature.

Does anyone know what GW intend to do about this? As someone who is primarily interested in Dark Eldar from an aesthetic POV, a codex is all well and good, but when are they gonna deliver on the promises therein? Some o them units have the potential to be rockin...

Since they are redoing the WHOLE range, this may take some time.
The warriors, wyches and other core bits are out, but I can see the rest coming over the next 2 years, bit by bit. The "wave" release system they are using is doing well for the company. It gives them the lead time they need to do a good job on everything. Rumours have the 2nd wave appearing sometime in the new year. Bearing in mind that the Guard, Nids, Wolves and Blood Angels havent gotten everything they need yet, the 2nd wave will probably be 4 models/kits including a special character or two. After that, stuff will be released as and when they get it done. The Forgeworld Raven may make a good stand in for the fighter (its 45 quid, but the fighter will probably roll in at around the 30 mark) for the time being.
Personally I am looking forward to the Wracks and Haemonculi. The idea of twisted Dr. Moreau style warriors and their Freaky Overlords sounds cool.

As for the super WS stuff, I dont see why they are higher than Eldar Autarchs. 6/7 should be high enough. Marine HQ's have a 5 or 6 usually. I can see why Lelith has a high WS, but as for the standard Archons, a 6 would do.
