New Raiding game and rules for EW and MW!

Post by job » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:26 pm

Hey, FOW guys. If you haven't started noticed, this week BF released the Raiding game rules for free on their website.

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/Do ... g-Aces.pdf

While this game was originally designed for specially organized raiding forces (specially rigged up trucks and jeeps and such for SAS and Brandenbergers), it seems BF has also set it up to use a number of other raiding forces from the EW/MW forces, including US rangers, British Commandos and Allied Airborne. There are also a number of Italian and German forces mentioned. These games are almost all played between 500 and 900 points (700 points was the previous level). They are also fast and only take about an hour to play.

Well, I hope this becomes a fun way to either play your current force or expand into EW/MW which we haven't seen yet in Nagoya.

EW now has a lot of fun things to do. Burning Empires really added a lot of challenges. I'll flat out say that I will never complain about 40k deep striking again. My fallschirmjager have it a lot harder. And hopefully at some point I can try the combat drops on crete!

Hey, if you want to sometime we can play Death from Above! That would be the paratrooper drop mission. It is really challenging for the guy dropping, (to compensate the game gives the paratroopers 25% more points) but it is all for fun and really good challenge.

Oh, yeah, and Crete was something of an epic disaster and triumph. The fallschirmjager really earned their stripes and honors there. Really epic and I think it would be fitting to play, except I think we need our fellow Kiwi, Mike to build his New Zealanders to be your fitting opponent. ;)

It'll have to wait anyways. My fallschirmjager are built more for late war defensive fighting with heer support. I need to build them up for offensive operations. And maybe paint them. But once I do, I expect to drop them here there and everywhere and still kick butt.

Okay, sure. But remember in DfA mission, the only things you can drop are infantry and very light artillery, so essentially you are using what you are describing as "defensive" in an offensive role. So essentially you are trying to set up a series of successful infantry assaults against an outnumbered enemy from your hopefully un-scattered infantry (all depending on the wind direction, amount of drift, and the number of guys who successfully land) before their reserves arrive. I think you've already got most of what you need for a mission like this. But maybe you want goodies like recoiless guns, although the fallschirmjager players in the last group found them a superfluous unit.

Ummmm....... fallschirmjager also have to get their gear before they can do anything but be a pistol based unit. As for what I need, believe me the list is long and I do get a few unique options that would help. Remember most of my heer support is in armor and artillery. Without the heer, I only got 910 points.
