Air Brushes
Air Brushes
Hi guys, how much is an average airbrush? I think I saw some in Joshin. Are they any good?

Re: Air Brushes
I'm not an expert, but my research suggested that a lot of the compressors you get with hobby brands (Tamiya, etc.)don't put out enough PSI.
Volks down the street from Joshin has a set for roughly ¥20,000 (I forget exactly) that includes a good compressor and airbrush with a spray booth. That's what I got, and it seems to do the job well.

Re: Air Brushes
This is very coincidental. I was thinking about investing in an air brush myself, but I've been debating its need for sometime.
For those that own/ed one:
How useful is an airbrush in your various estimations? What things do you use it on and what techniques do you get out of it?
I paint WWII stuff and this can use an airbrush. Also for mass painting some kind of marines, this seems to be a very useful tool. How about you guys who use one?

Re: Air Brushes
I will chime in on this.. Would I have ever bought one on my own? No.they are way to expensive. Am I very happy my wife got me the one I own? Yes extremely happy about it.
Reasons:
Bace coats and priming. The results from it are light years ahead of a normal brush. Not only does it work faster but the paint goes on more smoothly. Also it goes on thinner than with a normal brush. I am not saying you can't get the same results with a normal brush or a spray can. I am saying I can't
It can be used to paint other things but at the end of the day this is really all I use mine for.
The other major benefit to an air brush is that one can use it to do weathering that would take s lot of time with normal methods.
It also paints tanks and terrain faster and better than anything I have ever used.
