so, quiet day, huh?

Post by me_in_japan » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:49 am

Is it really possible that nothing happened today? Where is everybody?

wot have I done recently....

finished "A Dance With Dragons" (good, but with some bits/new characters that made me go "wtf?" and not in a good way. On the plus side, some characters make some interesting developments, and there are a few scenes involving dragons that no doubt already have the producers of Game Of Thrones peeing their pants at the projected budget  )

Started "The Primarchs" (so far utterly unsurprising, but then I dont read black library for surprises, or indeed, any reason other than habit)

Found that Sean sleeps best when there's some metal in the background. Seriously. I tried him with Jack Johnson, both Bobs (Marley and Dillon), and even Tori Amos, but although he tolerated them, it was DragonForce, AC/DC and Alestorm that sent him to sleep. "Broadsword" by Turisas is my fall-back song to sing to him when he's crying, as it will calm him down most more reliably than anything else I know. Wierd, huh?

Realised I was pretty hooked on watching the sales of Battle for Alabaster going up and up on Kickstarter. I'm checking that thing, like, 5 times a day. Must stop it - complete waste of time :(

Decided I defo want to go see Prometheus. Is it out here already? Oh, and has The Avengers gone? cos I didnt see it and would have quite liked to.

That's what i did today.

That's it.

Prometheus opens in Japan in August. In preparation, I've been watching the director's cuts of all the Alien movies. That, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Hobbit should top up my theatre quota for the year.

Also got some painting done today.

Just finished it myself. Interestingly the TV show does differ slightly. So many characters and plots to deal with, it sometimes leaves you feeling like nothing has really happened lol  Still, I liked it a lot and look forward to the next one.

I worked a lot and will work more tomorrow! Wish I could get enough time for some painting of the Hawk Lord's.

Read it last week.
I hated The Reflection Crack'd. Feat of Iron was so-so, nothing to unexpected. The Lion was good and The Serpent Beneath was great. :D

As for where I have been, I have been playing Blood Bowl Legendary Edition all evening. :D :D

I had my annual appraisal at work, then sloped off early to watch the Olympic torch relay go down Rutherglen Main Street. It was rather pleasantly underwhelming, and it was drizzling. All in all, rather quintessentially British. :)

You wouldn't think so to look at him, but our wee Justin plays piano bloody well, actually. Boogie woogie and other such bluesy funkadoodles.
