15mm Sci-Fi

Post by The Other Dave » Mon May 09, 2011 1:35 am

So does anyone know a good, generic ruleset that works with 15mm Sci-Fi?

Because I've recently been looking at Khurasan, and they're both cool and cheap.

Plus tyrannosaur dudes, robots, sharks and orcas, and even regular ol' humans.

Awesome. Love the Pulp Hero lines too. And the dinosaurs. And the road warriors! 15mm Mad Max! Someone else was doing 15mm sci-fi. Real Buck Rodgers\Flash Gordon retro style stuff that looked really cool. Will hunt around a bit more. With the detail on the figures, i'm willing to bet they are more a 20mm-"true" 25mm scale.

That's the thing, this is just a minis company, but they're so cool one wants to find an excuse to use 'em. I'm poking around trying to find a nice flexible ruleset.

I did find a game called Fast and Dirty, which is a) well-recommended, b) flexible, and c) free, which tempts me sorely to pick up a few squads of dudes to try it out with. It's platoon level rather than skirmish, but OTOH the dudes are small. At a dozen humans for $7, why not? A platoon of 3 squads of 10 guys is still dirt cheap.

Wow, that sounds pretty cool, ToD. Let me know if you're going to start that up.

Gee, I didn't expect anyone would actually show interest. :D

I think my cash flow situation is such that a June purchase of a platoon or so of Khurasan's Terran Federals would not break the bank. I'll update this thread if/when I place an order.

Hmm! My gut feeling is I like the crunchiness and potential unit differentiation in FaD better, especially if weird aliens are involved, but then there's no real harm in trying out a whole bunch of free rulesets!

Well, that is the joy of generic rules. We can try out several and see what fits. I'm happy to give them a whirl if I am ever in Nagoya.
