A borderline scam? I think that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about GW's prices on this forum.

The Spevna thinks it is a blatant, evil, satanic, and nasty scam.

It's just business as usual. Anyone who has ever played Shadowrun shouldn't be surprised by any sort of corporate antics that are selfish. Battlefront's actions are the surprising ones, how much support they give to the community is almost beyond belief.

As for paints, I've only ordered what I need for the Necrons. I'm going to give the new GW paints a try and also I am going to try vallejo and P3 to find what works best for me. I really am aiming to improve my painting skills and hopefully other modeling skills as well. The past few months have really gave me a lot to think about and my decisions have been pretty interesting with regards to the hobby.

No, battlefront moved production to Malaysia to save on wages - they're b******s too.

I'm interested in the new Shades and some of the Dry paints. I've only heard good things about them from the people I've spoken too. Personally, dropper bottles are the scam - it's all very well getting more paint in the bottle, but that doesn't help when the sodding thing gets an airlock and squirts half the bottle out when you take the cap off. The consistency of the Vallejo Game Colour range is a bit off, too - I don't know what it is about Dark Green and Bonewhite, but I've never had a good one of those yet. :)

Army? Not as such, no, but he did have a Catachan Jungle Fighters squad in a Chimera as allies to his Eldar army. They have since seen the light, and now serve proudly as a veteran squad in my own Imperial Guard army.

Open the bottle more carefully? Shake it more? Put in an agitator? You've mentioned this problem before, but you're the only person I know who's had this issue.

Ps - Battlefront may be b'stahds to their previous factory staff, but what do the Malaysians think, hmmm?

I've had Vallejo problems too, colors seperation, bottle always gets blocked up. But to be fair, if I treated my paint with MIJ care, it would not have been a problem.

In regards generally to the above, I think we can give kudo points to GW and Privateer Press for keeping their production domestic, but on the other hand those of us on this forum have relentlessly complained about GW's pricing. BF has kept their prices down considerably (they even once had a price markdown for Europe). This is probably partly due to their Malaysian and Chinese (publications are done in China now) production. (Although, some of the dice production is done in the UK and the US.) Of course the other part is they're probably not a bunch of capitalist cutthroats, but, still, I think as consumers we are getting what we paid for. :)

And as for Vallejo paints, I love them. They do have problems with separation sometimes, especially when I water them down into a wash, but I'm sure there are some painting tricks of the trade I've not bothered to learn properly.

I have had problems with paints separating too. My red will NOT mix properly without 10 minutes of shaking and then being stirred with a brush on a pallet. The air bubble thing happens a lot too. If the bottles need an agitator, why isn't there one in already? :D

Privateer use a UK company called HMG Limited in Manchester. This is the same company that used to produce Citadel paints back before they switched to the screw top lids. They also produce paints for Foundry and for some of the Army Painter range. Up until the change over of paints GW was using a French company, but the new paints say "Made in the UK" so it is entirely possible that they are using HMG again. I guess paint is a specialised product that GW/PP etc dont want to mess about with themselves.

I heard that the CEO of Battlefront is allergic to money. True story.   BF dont have large investment companies as shareholders, so they are free to be pleasant to their customers. GW have to show their investors that they are making large amounts of profit and so act like tyrannical monsters.
