This thread has just given me a bloody brilliant idea.

Who is up for a game of footie this Summer vacation. Cricket or rounders. Before you all chime in with "No Booo, never", hear me out.
There is a popular camping area we can rent near my house in Kambe. It's just about big enough for a kick around or a small game of cricket or rounders. The best thing about the place is it has a proper BBQ and campfire area designed for big parties and an indoor centre as well. We can use both. We could have a sports/wargames Summer camp. There is the option to pitch tents or sleep inside if it rains. Bring your familes and kids if you need to, this could be good for everyone. We could do an afternoon of football and cricket followed by a BBQ and then games inside (or outside if the weather is good) in the evening. It wouldn't be imperative to stay but the option is there for folks visiting from further afield.

Any interest? I would need to book in advance so let me know. August might finish us off with the heat so maybe in Autumn would be an alternative to summer.
5 a side football Nagoyahammer teams just needs to happen :D

The idea has merit indeed! While the Spevna hates to be the stick in the mud/realist/boring git who points out problems, he feels that he must mention that you, MiJ, and the Admiral will have littl'uns who will be, well, very little. Taking the whole fam along may not work to well. Might be more manageable to make it a one day thing.

Still, sounds like lots of good, clean, wholesome fun.

Yuck! :?

Just kidding. :D
Whilst I am all for a BBQ and/or wargaming, I think I will pass on the footie side of things. I will watch from the sidelines and cheer whoever fouls the other players the most.

The only sport I'll make time to watch is Formula 1 motor racing.

That's OK - they can play in goal.

@Ash: This sounds like a good idea. BBQ, Footy, maybe camping is all good.

Yeah, I suppose it doesn't have to happen right away. It could be something we do later on when peoples kids are older. Perhaps a one day event this Summer with football or cricket in the morning and wargames and BBQ from the afternoon. People who aren't fussed about the sports can still enjoy the BBQ and play wargames as we will have the building too. I'll look into it. Thanks for the interest everyone. :)

How the Fudge did that lot of soulless Blue mercenaries manage to beat Barcelona, with 10 men, 2 key defenders out for most of the game and a stand-in coach, at the Camp Nou? Did Abramaramaramavich buy the cup? :D :D :D
On a side note, John Terry would have to be front runner for Sports idiot of the week for hamstringing his own side.

Yep, not the smartest move by Terry.

Saying that, The Spevna can't even begin to imagine the frustration of playing against a team that has every tournament they enter so blatantly stacked in their favour.

And yes, winning the game with 10 men VS 12 men was quite the achievement.
