It did occur to me that some models might not be able to pile in far enough to attack at all in cases of mass carnage. This seems most likely to happen in cases with large numbers of cheap, poorly armored models like orks, kroot, or imperial guard. Initiative has always been very important in such situations, I'm not sure how much of a difference this will really make. It would really suck if you couldn't make any attacks at all when assaulting into cover because you were hit by a massive counter-attack. It adds insult to injury, certainly. Hard to say if it will actually happen that often in real play.

I have been thinking about the greater importance of special characters now. The rules for Challenges encourages you to arm up your characters as much as possible to take on enemy characters in single combat. Likewise, characters need to stay near the front of the combat so that they can make attacks, but that means they could end up taking it right in the face from either shooting or assault attacks. "Look out, sir!" indeed.
At the very least, I should probably put some 'eavy armor on my Nobs.

To be any good at all nobs are going to need to get there act together I would only ever run them as bikers now. T5 means rockets don't dabble them out, impact hits, and 4+ cover 4+ armour make them a lot better. Add in jig and the biker nob is back on top. dakkaguz were always good and hell I might even run a pain boy with them for a five plus five plus inv.fnp save

Jig? :D They dance now? I am going to assume that you mean Jink, which wouldn't seem to do much for them as they already have a cover save anyway. Nob bikers aren't as good IMHO because they can no longer wrap wounds around the entire unit. Lower saves on FNP and the fact that they will lose models faster means they will be taking break tests sooner and are more likey to break and run. They will still hit hard, but I think they have lost more than they have gained. They dont come in big enough units to ever really benefit from the Fearless rule (which makes large mobs much better) and the loss of the Initiative bonus on Furious Charge means they will generally be striking after most MEQ units. Meganobs in a wagon would appear to be a stronger choice due to the change of most power weapons to AP3.

But I could be wrong. :D

I just realized a few minutes ago that Deffkopters will be a big winner in the 6th ed rules. They benefit from Jink and they no longer suffer insta-kill on S8 and S9 weapons.

I was originally considering replacing my Black Reach kopters with Wartracks once I collect enough models, on the theory that AV10 Open Top is more durable than T4(5) W2 4+, they have the same guns, and Wartracks cost fewer points (slightly).
Now I'm planning to keep the Kopters.

Looks like I will have to increase the amount of Venom dakka at my disposal  with all these Nobs flying/riding around. No more shenanigans with wound allocations means they will die pretty quickly (not that they didn't before) to DE.

Don't you dare call Dark Eldar shooting "dakka"! The Boyz gotz Dakka! You lot have "daquahhh" or something. Find your own sissy and slithery sounding name for when you roll your 60 dice of shooting.

Hey hey Blue Table fans. Sean and his hive are locked in already too. Here is their 8 person tournament they ran recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=e ... wwM6lHAG34
Hive Tyrants are now monsters as well as characters if that means anything to folks in the know. :geek:
