Discussion of the 6th ed 40k rules
Re: Discussion of the 6th ed 40k rules
@Koji - Any character rolling a 6 to hit may allocate the wound to any model in the target unit rather than following the usual wound allocation rules. Characters are Independent Characters, Sergeants, Named models and in quite a few cases Monstrous Creatures.
@Ashmie - Yep, Ultramarines and Deathwing is a legit combo, as is Ultramarines and Wolves.
For Allies you need to take a Troops unit AND an HQ unit before you can take any elites, fast attack or heavy support with a max 1 of each unit type, except troops which you can have 2 of.
For Deathwing I would suggest Belial as an HQ allowing you to take the 5 man Deathwing squad as troops.

ok, so just who can demons and necrons ally with?
It's easy to die in the swamp. What's hard is to staying dead.

Daemons are BFF with chaos marines and vice versa. They can also tag team with IG.Colonel Voss wrote:ok, so just who can demons and necrons ally with?
Necrons can ally with most races (not daemons or Eldar though) though generally they have problems doing so.
I will post up the allies chart this afternoon if I remember.

I had my first game of 6th yesterday. I liked it, 1800 pts in 3h is not bad my it was not my opponents first 6th game.
I like everything, my plan is to paint and play with my tau. As always a very old codex there is a lot of choices that are rather useless.

Hi Frans, what about your killer Grey Knights army, they were mighty.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Need something new to paint and I have a spare Tau army in the closet and my tau can ally with Grey Knights...ashmie wrote:Hi Frans, what about your killer Grey Knights army, they were mighty.

seems, Tau will jump into bed with everyone for the greater good. Even chaos daemons. Thats incredulous.

Yeah, there are only a few good choices in the Tau codex anymore. On the other hand, it makes decisions about what to bring very easy!frans wrote:I had my first game of 6th yesterday. I liked it, 1800 pts in 3h is not bad my it was not my opponents first 6th game.

Tau are just very good natured. They are willing to give everyone a chance...jus wrote:seems, Tau will jump into bed with everyone for the greater good. Even chaos daemons. Thats incredulous.
What do people think about the allies rules? Are they going to break (bigger) games? There are just so many possible combinations, and my grasp on codexes other than Tau (and Tyranids, not that that matters) is not really enough that I can instantly see the cheesiest armies.
I am thinking of adding some Salamanders to my Tau (especially if I can get some suitable marines in a starter box with my small rulebook); I have always liked them and they seem to go well together, both being technologically minded; also Tau tend to provide long-range firepower, whereas Salamanders specialize in the in-your-face kind.

The FAQs have gone a long way towards preventing any super cheesey combos, so instead you should be looking more for fun additions to your army.

Oh, I'm not looking to build a cheesy army! Just pondering the existance of cheese.
