HAMMERCIDE

Post by Primarch_Vanguard » Sun May 26, 2013 11:06 am

I Held a small event this past Saturday called HAMMERCIDE 40k! Good people, food and gaming. It was 4500 pts a side of chaos vs space marines and imperial guard. The first turn really had the imperial forces worried after losing several tanks to incoming fire. Also a bloodthirster flying down your throat followed by a daemon prince chaser didn't help. Luckily the Imperium struck back by dropping in a blood angels dreadnought behind enemy lines and having it destroy the Defiler and Helbrute! Unfortunately it got its leg blown off and would do nothing else. Luck was with brother Justin as space marine command would send reinforcements in the form of a unit of Sanguinary guard after he picked a 200pt bonus points card from the Battle Rounds event cards. These, guard would deep strike and take out a predator with their infernus pistols. Then we broke for lunch.

Lunch was soft and hard tacos served with buffalo wings and three kinds of dip. Plus tortilla chips with hummus, sour cream and cream cheese, and guacamole dips. Then there was potato salad and eggplant salad to top it off. All washed down with dr.pepper. Then carrot cake with chocolate icing for dessert. I hope everyone enjoyed it.

After a small break, it was back to business. Opening up with the opening up of the Blood angels redeemer land raider by the bloodthirster! But the turning point of the battle was going on behind the greater daemon. Kharn the betrayer, a helbrute and a land raider took on a squad of blood angel terminators; hoping to wipe them out in one turn of combat but sadly for chaos it didn't go down as such. This halted the chaos advance enough for the Imperium to rally, destroy the bloodthirster with a horrendous amount of fire, and position the troops to recieve the reminder of the battle between the terminators and Kharn. Kharn in his fury over what was transpiring, missed with some attacks and buried gorechild in the chaos dreadnoughts head, killing it. Then as he slew the remaining terminator, Mephiston entered the fray and put an end to the betrayer, ending his involvement in the battle but alas, he also would fall to massed chaos fire right after. This left a daemon prince that had just finished turning the barrel of a Leman Russ into a pretzel. And the vanguard chapters terminators took care of that beast but not before it made 6 invuln saves in one turn. Blessed by the dark gods. I think so. At this point the imperium was in firm control of the hall of heroes while chaos controlled the lava river bridge and the power plant. However in the final turn, a squad of vanguard assault marines deep striked beside the power plants control panel and decided the tech could not fall into chaos hands; thus, they destroyed it. The resulting explosion was a 12" crater that devastated a unit of blood letters but did very little to any marines , chaos or imperium. However, this gave the imperium enough victory points to clinche victory. While in the end it was quite evident that the imperium forces were winning, the battle was close and it could have gone either way.

All players had a great time and enjoyed their medals for first, second, third and fourth place. Congrats to all players and thanks for coming out. A special thanks to Emina and Raina for helping as staff for the event. Thanks ladies.

Sorry for the bad picture quality. Photobucket dulls them somewhat. But an epic battle nonetheless.

It really was a good time. I haven't laughed that much in a long time. Win or lose, or was a good time. Hope more people can make it next time. I'm already checking on a hall close to my place.

You could say a paint change is...for the greater good. 8-)

about 1500 points worth of troops have been converted to Tau Ochre armor, and I have a squad at home that I'm swapping weapons and helmets with!
