Just to confirm, you're saying you want to see hard copies of every book we use? So no ipads, tablets or digital copies? It's probably worth pointing out that many people don't have the Apocalypse books and, as it is being rereleased later this year for the current edition I doubt many people will be buying the current (4th ed) book.

If you want to disallow specific armies or units, thats your perogative.
The HH stuff probably isn't too far out there for Apoc, but it is a whole new pile of stuff that most people will be unfamiliar with. Personally I love me some Heresy era, but its your call as to whether or not it's acceptable. Are we using it because people have lovingly converted and painted heresy era armies or just to bring out new uber units?

@Prim - easy, tiger! I don't think Badruck was disallowing anything - he just asked whether PV had a HH army. If he does, it'd be the first I'd heard of it.

Speaking personally, HH army usage wasn't something I'd even thought about. I kinda consider HH as a separate game to 40k. I mean, I don't have the rulebook, but is it a whole new ruleset or just an add-on for 40? Are the armies in it designed to work against 40k armies? Can the usual assumptions be made? (eg space marines are 4.4.4.4.1.4.1.8.3+ etc). I genuinely have no idea. All the other FW stuff is at least defo for 40k/apoc, so you know where you stand with it. HH stuff is...entirely unknown. Not saying it shouldn't be used, but I've kinda mentally catgorised it as not-40k, in the same way that necromunda is not-40k. Maybe it's just me...*shrug*

Ps - please note I'm not actually coming to this game (family commitments), but I figured its a free world and I can opine if I like :)

I folks have books I would hope the bring the one for the stuff they plan on using. But I don't mind if folk rock up with stuff that they have rules for. I just don't want a massive mount of loose photo copies and PDFs on iPads taking up time looking for stuff.

HH uses the same rules as 40K, but is definitely more geared towards Legion on Legion. So yeah, marines still have the same statline, but as you can get a tac marine for 10 points (usually 16 points each), I'd venture to say that it gives marines a bit of a buff vs none-HH forces. There is a LOT of unique wargear and special rules throughout, over and above what regular vanilla marines get as well as a load of new vehicles and unit types.

Marines are 10pts apiece and for that -6 points you lose...what, exactly?

If things are 10 points for a basic SME, I would wonder if the books are balanced for being played within the 30k universe and would be a bit out of tune with the 40k world. Of course it is Badruck's call. That aside it would be really uncool if someone pulled stuff out of the various books (GW or FW) to just get a tactical advantage.

Well, not the game, that's for sure. :D

The costs are kind of wierd. For the first 10 models and a sarge you pay 150 points. You can then add up to 10 more marines for 10pts a pop. Power weapons are cheaper, but you can't take special weapons (flamers etc) or heavy weapons (missile launchers etc). In exchange you get blade storm with bolters. You can shoot all your bolters twice at the same target but lose your shooting for the next turn. So for 250 points you get a 20 man marine unit that can rapid fire you with 80 bolter shots in a turn.
Different legions get different abilities similar to the current Chapter Tactics rules. Each Legion also has 1 or 2 unique units and a couple of special characters, plus their Primarch. Currently there are rules for the Sons of Horus, Deathguard, Emperor's Children and the World Eaters.

Can I worms unleashed! I justed thought it was a good question to clear up before someone showed up using a heresy army. I have the PDF and as usual, print out the stuff I'm rocking. I was thinking of bringing good ol Horus to the tea party but already went another way. Just thought we should clear things up.
