Where (online) to find game/group in U.S.?

Regular (and irregular) events in the Nagoya area can be posted up here. If you want to get your gaming fix, this is the place to look first.

Where (online) to find game/group in U.S.?

Post by asch » Tue Feb 24, 2015 1:37 am

Happy Lunar New Year from Honolulu!
I have been here in several months and got used to life in U.S.
However, I have difficulties in joining gaming communities here and haven't play 40K with my Imperial Guardsmen I brought from Japan. We have game/comic shop named Other Realms in Ward Centers, but they don't have regular 40K games there. Google tells me that there should be several other shops around Oahu, but they are out of my reach, because I still don't drive. (I have plan to get my driver license, but no plan to get a car)

Could you tell me where (online) do you find your new gaming communities when you move?

I'm afraid I usually found groups the hobby shop way, but most of the big forums have opponent finder sub-fora - I know dakkadakka does, for example.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Thank you for your help!
As for the hobby shop way, checking the updates, I've found Other Realms just moved to new bigger location and has regular gaming night for 40K. New location is a bit away from Waikiki, but within a hour bus ride. I'll try to find one visiting the new location.

For me word of mouth has always been the only effective way to do it. I'd say maybe try going to the hobby shop you know and ask other people there, even the staff. I guess they'll all be gamers too, and they should understand your situation.

eh, y'know. Stuff, and things

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

Good to hear from you Asch.
Try these places.

I'd also say make sure to talk to the owner and staff of the stores. Often they make a big difference to which store players gravitate. That and free tables.

And don't forget tournaments. Often those are the places where gamers will appear in numbers. Of course there will likely be more of the competitive sort, too

Hopefully once you start meeting the players you can get which forum, Facebook page or SMS they use to communicate.

Good luck to your IG!
