Gaming place after this May
Gaming place after this May
I'm unhappy to tell you of such a shocking news.
I heard this from Kondo san via other SNS.
Due to Joshin policy change, we can't rent their room from the end of this May.
The May gaming will be last at Joshin Osu.
Now Japanese member seek another gaming place starting June.
I'll keep informing you of this problem at this board.
Also, could you tell me you idea to solve it.
Thanks advance for your cooperation on this.

Ah. That is to bad. I always bought my glue and primer and bits there. It was very convenient.

Re: Gaming place after this May
And I was having such a nice day up until I read this.
Well, there is always Zengo. It's a bit further for most of us, but the room is big, it has plenty of tables and we have used it several times before.
The biggest problem I had with getting a room was always booking it. Many places have the most inconvenient system for room reservations. It works well for the retirees who only want a room for a few hours at random times, but it sucks for trying to get anything scheduled on a regular basis. Since most of the places are city owned, they don't really care about having rooms stood empty for half the day when they could have a crowd of gamers paying all day.
For a new venue, my biggest concerns are transport, food and table space. I don't drive and I usually carry a lot of stuff. Any new venue will need to be accessible by train and within a short walk of the station if I am to attend. Likewise, having a selection of places to eat nearby is important. Joshin was near a load of restaurants of various types. We usually had 5 tables of gaming going on at Joshin each month, so a room of a similar size and with the necessary tables is important too. A smaller room leads to problems getting/organising games.
Ideally then we need somewhere which we can book regularly (I don't mind paying for 6 months - 1 year in advance if it means getting the room every month), near to a station and restaurants, and big enough to accomodate us all.
Anyone have any good ideas?

That's too bad to hear. I wish Kondo-san the best luck with a search for a new place.

That's unfortunate, although I guess it's not like we brought a lot of money in for them. The car racing dudes on the 5th floor at least presumably buy more model car bits with some regularity.
I, for one, don't mind Zengo as a regular venue. The eating choices are sub-optimal, but aside from that it's a nice place.

That is unfortunate.
I guess Zengo is OK, just further to go.

I haven't been able to attend at Joshin for some time, what with one thing and another. But it's a bit of a shock as I took it for granted that it would always to be there when needed. Zengo is a good venue if it's going to be viable as a regular alternative, the room I played in the one time was very spacious.

That's a shame. I also hate it when things you think are going to be there forever end.
How about that place Prim used to book for winter blitz. Not the place at Kamayama, the other place. That was a nice venue. Like a community centre.
How about another hobby shop like Yellow Submarine? I know the Kyoto group used to play in their store. It was a tiny room but they managed about 4 tables I think.
You guys are always welcome in Tsu, we have space and its a regular monthly now thanks to Satoru organizing things. But hey it is Tsu and I know that's far. Bento land here. There are about 10 regulars, mainly Japanese players these days. Board games and currently Frostgrave. I'll post when the next one is scheduled. I don't always attend these days but it runs each month.
Failing that I reckon you guys can find a community hall to rent regularly. How about asking city hall if there are spaces for community groups. Anyone you know run an English School in Nagoya?

Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.
