Shachi Bowl Rules

Post by The Underdweller » Wed Apr 06, 2016 8:40 am

Here are the rules. Honestly I am pretty new to this game still so feel free to discuss them and if anything seems unreasonable or just not fun it is open to modification.

Another thing, the room is pretty small so 8 players is pretty much the maximum. So far we have about 7 people who have expressed an interest, so it should be fine. I'll double check with everyone maybe after Nagoyahammer, once people have a better idea of their schedules.

Rules

Game Timing: Turns should be kept to 4 minutes or so, although stopping the clock to check the rules is OK. This is a pretty casual event, so I am not going to be especially strict about this. If the game isn't finished in time, the score at the time of stopping will be used.

Rules: Weather can be used if both players agree. The Illegal Procedure rule will not be used

Match-ups: For the first game, opponents will be chosen at random. In the second game, the winners will play each other. Star Player Points (except MVP) will be used to break ties as necessary.

Teams revert to their starting rosters for the second game.

Team Building:

1) You have 1,100,000 Gold to build the team (min 11 players). You can use part of your starting gold to purchase up to 100,000 of Inducements as part of your team, and use those Inducements for both games.

2) Pick a skills package:

• Package A: 6 regular skills. Decide which 6 players will receive skills and select their skills from their regular skill charts (1 skill per player)

• Package B: 4 regular skills, 1 ‘doubles’ skill. Decide which 4 players will receive skills and select their skills from their regular skill charts. Decide which 1 player will receive the doubles skill and select his skill from the appropriate ‘doubles’ skill chart (skills only - statistic increases are not allowed - same player cannot have a regular and 'doubles' skill).

Mutations may be selected for players who have access to the mutations chart (selected in the same manner as skills above, so may be a ‘regular’ skill for some players or ‘doubles’ for others).

That all seems fairly straightforward to me.

Interesting idea to have pre-skilled teams to start with. Seems solid, though.

It doesn't explicitly say, but is it safe to assume that, assuming one earns enough in winnings in game one, that you can buy new player(s) and/or coaching staff between games 1 and 2?

Pre-skilled teams seem pretty common for BB tournaments. I guess it lets people customize their teams a bit, while keeping everyone at about the same level.

As for spending your winnings from game 1, I am trying to keep thing simple, so I was going to just have people use the same roster for games 1 and 2. Of course, if you wanted to keep using the team after that day, you could roll their winnings, injuries, etc. and apply them to future games you play.

What do people think?

Sounds good to me.

Just ordered myself a team :)
