The Gauntlet - March
The Gauntlet - March
Three months in, hopefully we'll see a bit more effort this month, who knows.
Given how reluctant some people seem to be to dive in to this little challenge, I think that should set the theme for this month. This month's challenge is to paint up a few of those models. Y'know, the ones that have been sat on your shelf for ages while you procrastinate about painting them. You probably even bought them thinking "that looks awesome, it'll be amazing when it is painted and on the table."
But it didn't get painted, did it?
Well consider this the wake up call to grab that mini, slap some paint on it and realise the image you had when you first bought it.* Be it a single 28mm figure, a tank or perhaps even a gigantic titan from Forge World.** Get it done! The only guideline is it can't be a new figure, it has to be something you've had for a while.
The Gauntlet for March is:
Stage 1 - One miniature
Stage 2 - Two miniatures
Stage 3 - Three miniatures
Stage 4 - Four miniatures
Stage 5 - Five miniatures
*Or not, considering the current levels of participation.
**Not that I was thinking of anybody in particular here.

Re: The Gauntlet - March
Whaaaaaat?!?! We can only paint minis we've had kicking about for ages and havent painted?
I don't have any of thoooooOOOooose.
Sorry, there is no emoji big enough to convey the ridiculousness of that previous statement.
Hum. Yes, well, I cant promise a titan, as I really need to get on with my death guard, but I do have a few death guard related things that've been sat around for...ooh, more years than I can remember*, so I'll get started on one of them shall I?
Also, for what it's worth, I havent been reluctant to get involved with the challenges. I thought about both the objectives and the scatter challenges for, oooh, ages. Just didnt get round to them. Maybe I could combine all three with an objective marker the size of a piece of scatter terrain that I've had sitting around unpainted for years?
*just checked. My email receipt from FW is dated September 2013. That counts as sitting around for ages, yes?

Re: The Gauntlet - March
Today I started on my first mini for the Gauntlet, a Word Bearer's Contemptor Dreadnought from the Betrayal at Calth set. It's only a couple of years old, but it's the last model from that set that I haven't painted yet. It has been sat on my shelf for ages, so this month it gets done!

Re: The Gauntlet - March
Today I did work on a reaper bones dragon that I got from the 1st kickstarter I think! I don't like the eyes I did. At first I wanted the eyes to standout, so I painted them bright red, but I think the eyes should match the colour of the dragon - which is not red. (Prim already did a Red dragon and we don't want two red dragons out there! No no no! Vicious things that they are! )

Re: The Gauntlet - March
I've actually been working a bit on this these past few days. I'm currently painting a scatter-terrain-could-be-objective-but-is-actually-a-base-for-an-old-mini, thereby neatly encapsulating all three months' worth of gauntlet challenge in one single piece. Pics tomorrow

I'm trying to decide if this is laziness or the height of efficiency.me_in_japan wrote:I've actually been working a bit on this these past few days. I'm interested to see what you've been working on.
