If I suddenly get a burst of creativity before Halloween then I will let you know at least 2 weeks in advance that I'm attending but at this stage it's looking doubtful so I will have to pass.
That weekend is busy for me with kids parties too.
Hopefully next time.
@ Ashmie - Orcs I can do. If you need some models, let me know how many points you are short and I can fill in some of your gaps.
@ Everyone - No-one is really up to speed on the new rules yet, so the playing field is fairly level. (Though it would help if you've read them).
Due to comments from he last events, if your army isnt painted, then dont worry since the painting points are a separate prize system. Basically if you play with bare grey plastic and win all your games, you win the event. If you have a gorgeous army and lose all your games you will win the painting competition. Comp/Sportsmanship, Painting and Playing are all separate.

Rob and Dave, your comments are noted and I agree with you. I totally would be there if I could. Playing with unpainted models is one of my pet hates and so far I've chosen not to rush the ones I've got as I won't paint them as well and will be getting stressed.
I know it takes a lot of prep and money too, I have been finding the same thing in organising the Tsu events.
I'm going to have to pass this time around I'm afraid. Got quite a bit on that weekend with Halloween stuff.

I take it you guys can't go either that's why your telling everyone else they should go.

As to the hobby or Nagoya events dying, I don't think that will happen, you guys love it too much.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Well, since a) this sounds fun, and b) it's looking more and more like I may actually be able to have a full 2000-point goblin force collected and painted by the end of October, I'm going to throw in my hat, provisionally - I still have no idea how busy the whole having-a-baby thing will make me, so if you don't mind the prospect of a sudden cancellation I'm in.
Feel free to call me Dave!

ach cheer up y'auld glumph.

Successful tourneys are about 3 things:

1) marketing. i.e. letting as many folks as possibly know about it.
2) timing: making sure its at a time that folks who want to go, can go.
3) finding a target audience: make sure youre pimping a game that enough people actually play.

My money is on 40k and Warmahordes tourneys/events being succesful, WHF or Mali or Uncharted seas etc, less so, mostly due to point 3, above.
current (2019) hobby interests
eh, y'know. Stuff, and things

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

The 40k Tournament suffered from number 2.

I'm planning something for early next year that will heavily feature Warmahordes and other non-GW games.

An offer you may or may not be able to refuse (apologies to Mr. Brando):

In the interests of getting more warm bodies coming along to Hallo-war, I am willing to lend someone either 2000pts of Beastmen or 2000pts of Daemons for the duration of the tourney. I will also be willing to lend the associated rulebooks and help write up an army list and provide any pertinent advice too. No particular conditions involved, except that if either army wins the painting contest you have to give me the prize ;) Otherwise I am happy to lend either army to the first relatively sane (which rules out the Madmiral) bidder.

If you are interested PM me a.s.a.p. and we will work something out.
