For my part, I played a game against my son's Ylthari warband the other day, and it was made abundantly clear to me that I need to find a way to up my glory point-scoring opportunities, and also not take my eye off the ball. Stuff like: when he moves his Ylthari away from your guys and squats on an objective I should prooooobably use my objective destruction ploy that I have in hand to nix that bad boy, rather than just sitting watching him score points  Also, ending a game on 9 glory just doesnt cut the mustard. I'm aiming for an average of 15 at the mo (I mean, scored, not just in the deck) with a view to eventually up that to 18 or so over time. Still falling woefully short, though.

That reminds me I kind of want to try a Ylthari "pure objective f**kery" deck and just include every shenanigan to destroy, move, or flip objectives in the book. I'm not sure if it would be any *good* (for one thing, it would rely a whole lot on Ylthari herself, a common issue with magic decks), but it sure seems like it might be fun.

And me and Jye were talking in the car coming back from the Gifu Underworlds thing the other day: it's kind of weird to think back to season 1, when winning with 9 or 10 glory was a blowout. Just a combination of people getting better at the game and a wider selection of better-designed score immediately cards coming into play.

Aww yiss!

Pretty much exactly what I was expecting for this warband, except for how good the ogor looks (real good!). I'm all excited for potential harpooning shenanigans. Interestingly, he also seems to have a model for an actual bear trap as well - I'd guess it has to be something more special than just acting like a lethal hex, because otherwise they could just give him a "place a lethal hex" ability. We'll see!

I'm liking those minis a lot. As for the bear trap, something like if you stand on it, you lose 1 move for your next activation? Or maybe even get a move token? Something like that?

Well, poop - about half these cards are in my lists. I suppose that at least means I’m picking the right cards, I guess?

Haha yep, there'll be a bit of reshuffling for me too.

To be fair, things like Scrum and Temporary Victory are basically good enough to be auto-includes in any deck with more than 3 models (and worth thinking about seriously even then), which is generally a sign that they'll want to be restricted.

I grumble every time because I always have to change something, but it's genuinely good for the game.

I'm starting to maintain "Relic" decks with leftovers + forsaken/cycled out cards. I think it's not bad for friendly play because while they have some egregious nonsense they don't have the cream of the Championship crop (which are safe in my "main" decks). I can forsee wanting to run some Relic for real in a year or two just to see how crazy it can get, though.

Hmm, I guess it turns out that having a bunch of strong in-faction cards (as the Mournflight does) means I didn't really have to change much - just swapped out Keep Them Guessing in my Gitz deck.

Incidentally, I'm starting to like MiJ's idea of letting myself freely make copies of cards I own for casual-game deck construction. It'd be nice to be able to throw a deck together for any warband I own without breaking an existing deck down, and would probably help my painting motivation a bunch. (Main obstacle is having no printer at home and no color printer at work, actually.)

Remember, kids - Japanese L size photo papers are exactly double the size of a shadespire card. And also magic cards. Not that I routinely proxy cards or owt :?
