And finally, latest pics. The "Space Xorn" is basically done. I'm puttying up the tongues a bit and will work on the base a bit more. The "Pitklaw Diggamama" is done. I might try and sharpen up her horns and not entirely happy with her hair, but I'm tired of messing with it and making it gave me ideas for a later project. And the "Noodlehead" gunners are still pretty rough, but coming along.
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....
Cervantes, Don Quixote
The Sisters in that link are awesome @Konrad - and nice sculpting yourself!
Buzzer beater for tomorrow:
I made some rash noises about not wanting to go full wolf with the Space Wolves, who wolfed right off the wolf end sometime between my beloved 2nd ed codex and now. I also didn't want any firstborn figures in my army so wanted to avoid things that required real skill to convert with Primaris bodies.
And I stuck to that while Wulfen were good.
But Thunderwolf Cavalry? Have *advance and charge*.
I finished up my valkyries / vendettas this weekend just in time for my first 9E games coming tomorrow. I also need an officer of the fleet for the list, so I quickly painted up an imperial navy officer.
@ Konrad: PitKlaw diggamama! They're really coming along nicely. I'm getting a lot of classic eldritch horror vibes and the ends of thumb tacks for spikes is a good idea. Because they are spikes. And they look dangerous. Because they are. Oh and raven man's Arabian curved dagger is a touch of class. I think I still have 32 inches of greenstuff left but I haven't found the motivation to sculpt anything recently.
@Karantu: yeah those craters look the business. I think I'm going to have to look into air dry clay.
@ Jye: Like Konrad, digging the gold bronze and those bases are really nice
@dekana: I really like what you've done with the windows. You can really see the gradation with the blues.
@jus and jye: Thanks! I'm also really happy with how the cockpit glass came out. Looks a bit like you can see the lighting from the instrument panels.
I played my first 2 games of 40k 9E yesterday, one against genestealers and one against custodes. Here's an imgur battle report!
I've done a lot of painting the last two months, so I think I'll take a break for a few weeks.
Edit: And here's a link to more pictures from the event, including some more of my sexy ladies.
And that taps me out for models I have for that game - as I've said, I may pick up a throwy team at some point, but there's no rush. I did the metals in metallics, but otherwise full contrast as per usual. I've decided to get back on the wagon and finish painting up my second Warlord next - it's been half-done for most of the year now, which is quite the waste.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Dekana: So many lovely models in those photos yet Ig are still stuck with 1995 tanks
I'm going to have to proxy Skorpius for Chimeras and Ridgerunners for Elysian Tauros.
This guy has been sitting half-painted on my shelf for the better part of a year now, so it feels good to get a sub-assembly finished up. (And working with acrylics rather than Contrasts was less onerous than I'd worked myself up to thinking it might be, too. )

I haven't done any real painting for a couple of weeks now. Instead I have been busy preparing models for the annual winter painting challenge I have joined.
(http://thepaintingchallenge.blogspot.co ... s.html?m=1 There may still be time to join if you fancy it).
My gaming table and workbench are currently covered with sprues, half built minis and trays of figures that have been primed and are ready to go. The starting date is Dec 21st, so you can expect to see a lot more minis from me after that.
And now, more assembly!
Painted Minis in 2014: 510, in 2015: 300, in 2016 :369, in 2019: 417, in 2020: 450
Warlord #2 is done (and damnably hard to photograph):
The trouble with having a go at a second expensive centerpiece model is realizing all the things you could have improved on the first one. Of all things, I'm especially pleased with how the base came out.
