It's better than "wound"

Kill Team 2 is feeling like it's taking the Warcry chassis and turning the complexity up one notch in every place it can. If it can keep a reasonable learning curve and that complexity adds legitimate gameplay value then that will be great - Kill Team will have its own niche among GW games as a medium complexity skirmish game.

I don't *think* it'll make the August game day if they do a two week preorder period, but we should be able to give it a go in September?

On seeing that, I briefly held out hope that they were called "turning points" because they were going to loosen up the turn structure even further a la Chain of Command or something, where you might activate a single unit multiple times, and "turn end" measures an actual substantive change in the game state. (It does at least make it sound more cinematic, which seems to be in general what they're going for.)

Still, basically everything I see about the new KT makes me more interested.

More info on Kill Team.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/202 ... ng-points/

Good - Alternating activations. This keeps both players focused on the game.
Bad? - Turns have been renamed to 'Turning Points'. Why?

So in the new Kill Team, there are no points values for minis. But there are Action Points, Victory Points, Command Points and now Turning Points. I'm thinking the design team needs a better thesaurus.
Apparently there are points in Kill Team, kinda.

You've probably heard about GW exchange rates, now get ready for GW time zones. Hint: We're getting sent to the Shadow Realm or something.
Well that's not the reason they mentioned but apparently since Australia is under lockdown they are putting preorders for Japan on hold too since it effects their distribution hub for Japan? Even though it doesn't effect any other country around Japan? I think I need to brush on geography or global logistics since I can't really understand why. Not that this effects me in anyway whatsoever though.

It would explain a lot if our stuff had been coming via Sydney all this time - the Japan Tax would just be the Australia tax plus a little something for coming back to the hemisphere it started in

Anyway might be an opportunity to put the question of how much of the kit you really need to play the game to the test.

From my experience I've had books from GW (that were printed in China) arrive directly from the UK so I'm not sure what they're on about. I doubt they're stupid enough to import it into Australia, pay import tax, and export it to Japan.

I think I've decoded enough reviews and seen enough leaked data to be able to play Kill Team using either faction from the box set but without the compendium we'd be limited to those two.

GW's prices in Japan are based on the Pound-Yen exchange rate. Not the current rate, but a previous one. Around 2007 (I think, just before the Financial crisis), the Pound hit an all time high against the Yen. That is where GW bases it's internal exchange rate. While I would rather pay current rates, it's easy to see why companies with localized stores don't adjust prices every time the rate changes. It would be a logistical nightmare.

Ooooooh. I was this close to actually ordering some product from GW. Sure, two books is not a lot, but it’d have been a toe being dipped back into the water. Thank you, GW, for reminding me how poorly you treat your customers in Japan, NZ and Australia. It wouldnt have been hard, as a temporary measure, to just say “customers from Jp, NZ and Aus can still order, but it’ll take a little longer” and then behind the scenes just have the GW stores here and in NZ and Oz just order in copies as needed from their overseas locations. Since I, as a private individual, can do this and still save substantial money, there is no reasonable excuse for GW not also being able to do it. But no. We can just wait indefinitely, and then pay a huge markup.

No. Just…no. Why do customers have to carry the responsibility for the company’s fuck ups? (And it is a company fuck up. There’s been a lockdown in Australia for some time now. They can hardly claim to have been curveballed by it.) Even if it meant a small drop in profits, it’d be basic politeness (and basic PR) for GW to just…be flexible? Try and provide an alternative method? At least fucking apologise?

But nah. We get to wait.

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

Umm... this is pretty awkward but it seems like the pre-orders when up like normal? It seems like GW HQ, store owners, and the customers are all just as confused.

Yeah, Jye and I were able to place orders for the stuff through plamojuku today. It is a mystery!
