@MIJ- Well, you gotta figure that by the time they get around to putting the marine in the dread, there is probably only about half of him left and fits in a pretty small box. :D

And direct from France, LeBoom!

That's some nice cannoning, Konrad!

For my part I had my booster shot on Friday, which put paid to Saturday, and I stayed in Sunday to be on the safe side. That meant all hobby all weekend, just no photos because all I did was assemble in great quantities.

I've broken 100PL in assembled Asuryani, and 0PL of painted Asuryani - that's probably still for Golden Week. The Warp Spiders that Jus printed for me are awesome, but I really found myself wishing they had more hero rocks as I tried to superglue their tippy toes to little 25mm bases

Speaking of Jus, since he was kind enough to part with some of his Harlequin collection I had a few of those to glue up and finish off; I have a box en route from Nottingham that with those will take me up to 50PL of clowns. They are currently the game's most busted army but at last game day we proved that unlike the Custodes, they are very much an army that the inferior general can get killed by, say, charging them into a largely intact Ork force, so potentially friendlier in casual play as long as I don't suddenly learn any tactical acumen.

I *also* assembled some Custodes, a second box of the jetbikes. They are probably not a priority to paint until they've been thoroughly nerfed, as they surely will be with 9 of them in every tournament list. They don't seem *toxic* just looking at the Codex but it turns out being able to go wherever you want, have decent offence in two phases, and absolutely never dying is a reasonably good combo.

And for something completely different. My buddy will be sending a box of French for "Silver Bayonet" too. This was sort of a boring figure I thought at first. Based on the old, old "Flesh Golem" illustration from the original Monster Manual, I think. So I rigged up a smashed door, ankle chain and did some over the top OSL to put a bit of zing into it. I sort of wish I had another one and do it with more natural light and really concentrate on the yellowed, blackened bruised scarred undead flesh and the ragged, grimy, trousers.

Oh and I did up this very modern model of a modern major drum major too. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Love the lighting and base on the flesh golem!

Yarr indeed. Only thing better than pirates are goblin and ogre pirates. Jye must be buying that contrast blue by the gallon!

Thanks for the comments. I feel after the golem, I'm finally getting my mojo back. The secret was no black was used, except for the eyes. I undercoated the whole thing contrast blue on the back and red on the front and worked purple into the shadows from there.
I got a couple pots of contrast and am finding them pretty handy. I've been using it mostly as a medium. Instead of thinning with water, use a bit of contrast and keep the color strong. Got some regular old Windsor Newton inks to do the same. The white ink has been really helpful for all those fricken' white French uniforms. The contrast yellow over gunmetal makes a great gold. That and and agrax earthshade and nuln oil are like magic sauce.

I don't mix paints so when I find a contrast I like, I have a firm policy of drenching as many models as possible in that colour!

Especially when it comes to Underworlds, there's 40 teams or something now, I'm not making that many unique colour schemes 😅
