And another three! This hobby streak stuff is easy, clearly this will be my best year ever.

(Actually planning on breaking the streak to *play* over the next couple of days, then I have this awful feeling I'll have to eventually go back to work)

I also finished listening to the Tale of Genji as I was painting. I read it years ago but coming back to it with more historical context (and being unavoidably more sympathetic to Murasaki Shikibu herself since she'll always be Mahiro to me now after a year of Taiga Drama), I appreciated it as a work much more. I still want to throttle Genji, stab Yugiri a bit, and bang Kaori and Niou's heads together repeatedly.

oooh, that ratty boy on the big rat is a great model. AoS, I assume? As an old ex-skaven player, the ratties will always have a special place in my heart. Also, I feel ya on the clanrat problem. yech *shivers*

Yeah they got a big refresh last year with the new edition launch. There's even bigger rats! Much bigger!

No finished models today (or yesterday) but some of the recently painted ones got table time!

Yesterday had three games of Underworlds vs Dave using new teams and decks - they were all good fun but Dave's dice luck was dominant for the first two games for good (second game, his Orruks were out of control) and ill (first game, poor old Wyrmspat) Third game probability largely let us alone and I managed a very narrow win thanks to the Stormcast being a bit tougher now and able to stand on things very firmly.

Today I had a great game of 40K vs @Mephiston, my Thousand Sons vs his Taktikal Brigade Orks. I very narrowly had the best of it in the fighting but I didn't even make a dent in the scoreboard  I've learned appropriate paranoia vs Orks and their horrifying mobility and power on the Waaagh turn, even how to put myself in a position to strike back hard, but it turns out you still need to score victory points somehow while doing that. Definitely need more screening, action units and shenanigans!

That was some intensely weird luck, yes. I kind of want to bring both those warbands out again just to see how they fare over a wider distribution of possible dice rolls. (But I'll probably keep floundering in the "try everything out" pool for a while yet as we come to terms with the new edition.)

I still haven't started painting yet this year, but I am going to want to finish up my Hedonites in time for Nagoya Minis this month, so that should get me off my butt sooner or later.
Feel free to call me Dave!

eeeuh! That would make a great base model for a Gorkamorka Mutie!

I read Genji years ago. The total aloof, disconnected, "Floating World" these noblemen and the Emperor live in is just alien. It is perfectly natural for them to do nothing (well I guess they had to do a bunch of religious rituals, and Genji has to tell people to do the accounting) but write poetry and lounge about because the world literally exists by the will of heaven to provide them comfort and ease and they don't even think twice about it.

Been banging away on some "stacks" for Bangaranga. Was thinking, "Oh, just cobble this together quick with whatever junk I have laying about." but....so many rivets....too many rivets.....

And I found these great rail way container car carriages that I'm going to make into walkways. They are perfect!

@Konrad I love your custom stuff!

So relieving to paint a little mini that only takes a few hours!

Awesome work to both of you! Love to see that creativity and skill.

Meanwhile this guy took ages compared to the ones I churned out over December and the new year. Was I slacking off after a burst? Or was it just friction from being too foolish to use subassemblies?

@Grant- Love the grot! He'd be perfect for Gorkamorka! They had a faction of Gretchin Revolutionaries even. Down with the Ork Oppressors! Share the Scrap!
