Hi !

I just moved to Nagoya, and always wanted to learn to play Warhammer. I never dived into it, but at 44 i guess it is never too late....

Big fan of the lore, and starting to look into the painting part. Found the link to this forum on the FB group! Looking forward to learn how to play and meet nice people!

Hi Madmid9, and welcome to NagoyaHammer.

I don't think there is an upper age limit on when you can join the hobby, it is pretty inclusive.
We meet once a month somewhere in (or near to) Nagoya, and information can be found both here and on our Discord group. (Here is a link https://discord.gg/WP5p4fS7).

We are currently in the process of updating the website, but please feel free to join in any discussions or to start your own. We have some very talented painters who will be happy to give you advice, some experts in various games who can help you to start collecting, and some people who have read a lot of the lore if you fancy a chat about it.

Can I ask what game/army/lore is your favourite so far?

Best,
Prim (aka Stuart)

Thanks Primarch!!

I just joined the Discord, waiting on approval.
I’m still settling in (currently in a serviced apartment), so I’m waiting until I have a proper space before I start painting seriously.

As for the army, I’m still very much at the beginning 😄 I’ve followed the lore for a while (via YouTube videos and similar), but since I’ve never actually played, I’m still learning how the armies are divided in the game.

That said, if possible, something tied to Chaos / the Warp really appeals to me. I love the idea of the parallel or mirrored universe aspect.

i have a lot more free time now, so I’m excited to finally dive in and learn properly.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Aloha all,

This is a bit early, but we are in preparation to move to the area so I thought it best to start researching. We are moving to Mie & have lots of family in Nagoya, where we already visit often. The plan is to transition to living there full time over the next 2 years.

Gaming wise I'm a formerly a very competitive itc 40k player before a major knee injury + COVID ended that run. Living in rural Hawaii for the last 5 years I mostly just paint & hobby. Hoping I can get back to playing more (casual or comp) when I get over there since I wont have to literally fly to another island to get games in. A couple hours on the train awkwardly holding an army case is nothing comparatively.

Regards,

Aaron Wisch

PS I can't seem to get into the Discord server if anyone can help (I'm wischfulthinking on Discord)

Hello Aaron,

Welcome to NagoyaHammer. There are a few gamers in the Moe area, but as the group name implies we are mainly centered around Nagoya. There is a group meet up once a month, and 40K is always present, though other games are also represented at various times. We mostly play casual games, I can't remember the last time we had a serious tournament.

I have updated the link for the Discord, most of the chatter in the group happens over there now. These forums are still open and are for more permanent discussions and records.

Hope to see you at a gaming table soon.

Regards,
Prim (aka Stuart)

Welcome Aaron! As mentioned we play pretty casual though I think a few folks (not me) could give you a run for your money if you provoked them to exercise those muscles  You're very welcome either way!

Howdy Aaron! Sorry for the delay in response - I only check in here from time to time, although I am over on the discord a bit more often. Whereabouts in Mie are you? I'm in Tsu. Fwiw, if you're looking for more competitive games Nagoya may be a better bet for you - the gamers I know in Mie (including myself) tend towards a more beer-and-pretzels approach, but never say never, I suppose. I've been known to break out my eldar for some friendly competition (although, fair warning, I have zero idea about the current edition of 40k, and was never much good at it even when I did play  )
current (2019) hobby interests
eh, y'know. Stuff, and things

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...
